L.O.V.E - Lindsay Perry
Famous for being a surfer and a model for sportswear brand’s campaign, Lindsay Perry show us that with her first album L.O.V.E, she’s also a talented songwriter, guitarist, and singer.
It’s the eponym track L.O.V.E, that Lindsay Perry have selected as first single and opening of the album. Very good choice, because L.O.V.E appears to be one of the most memorable song of the album, with its rapped verses on a folk guitar background. Then at first listening, we as soon understand that we are listening something out of ordinary. But if we thought that Lindsay couldn’t surprise us anymore, we recognize that we were absolutely wrong after listening Dancin’ with the devil, a blues song in the pure tradition of B.B King. Then if the blues is omnipresent in the album, it’s not the only influence of Lindsay Perry. Indeed, if Cheers reminds us of Scarlett Johansson & Pete Yorn, Angus & Julia Stone and Cocoon, Lovesick Remady shows country influence, while Fabric and Don’t Leave are more in the Amy Winehouse's british blues style. At least, if Slow Creepin’ does an amazing splits Bob Marley - Britney Spears, it’s with $1.95 that we find again the modernity of L.O.V.E, although in a happier tonality.
But while Scarlett has her Pete Yorn, while Julia Stone has her Angus, and while Britney Spears Has an army of songwriters, Lindsay Perry, her, do it all on her own with her folk guitar. It even seemed that Get Back was recorded in a single live record if we trust Lindsay announcing “This song is called Get Back” at the beginning of the track. With its minimalist arrangements, although sublime on Dancing with the devil and $1.95, L.O.V.E is clearly not the most sophisticated album of the year, but it’s not what we are expecting of it. Sometime it worth to drop the sophistication and simply go to the beach, listening what Lindsay Perry wants to sing for us with her folk guitar beyond the sound of waves.
Then, we only can praise this first album and wish a lot of success in music to Lindsay Perry, because with such a great talent, it’d be a shame if she dropped performing music.
Lyrics : Dancin' with the devil - Lindsay Perry : Paroles
Dancin' with the Devil
I met this man down in New Orleans
He said that is name was Reverend Gene
He was the devil in disguise with his eyes of ice
Should I know better from how is last
Cause it's nothing much more for me to do
But go dancin' with the devil in its handsome shoes
Cause I lost my soul inside the wishing
And you better believe that I am going straight to hell
He was tainting lot of me with his evil stare
Next thing I know he was pulling my hair
But when the morning time had come he was on the run
And then I realized what I had done
Cause it's nothing much more for me to do
But go dancin' with the devil in its handsome shoes
Cause I lost my soul inside the wishing
And you better believe that I am going straight to hell
...
If the devil won't take me and God can't save me
I bet this shotgun will
If the devil won't take me and God can't save me
I bet this shotgun will
Lyrics : $1.95 - Lindsay Perry : Paroles
$1.95
I've got a dollar 95 in my bank account
Oh this is the true that make them talk about
But it doesn't matter now
It never matters then
Cause I keep living as luckiest as the same
And now the car is closed, and out the damned rain
It makes my soul relive to dreams
You can take it all back, take, take it all back
I said oh, oh oh, oh oh,
You can take it all back, back, baaaack, baaack
You can take it all back
Take it all back but you better know that
There's no guarantee in tomorrow I learn
Oh time on my mind denying I try to find
Little bit of happiness in my peace of mind
But I let it all go and it comes from my soul
I let it all go, free flow from the soul
You can take it all back, take, take it all back
I said oh, oh oh, oh oh,
You can take it all back, back, baaaack, baaack
You can take it all back
Lyrics : L.O.V.E - Lindsay Perry : Paroles
L.O.V.E
And you was like L.O.V.E
When I met you
Me and you it's like one was two
Oh I can't see me loving nobody but you
And now D.A.J.D
They gonna round you
Just keep doing what it is you
You and I, just I keep on loving you baby
Now it all started out when I let you in the park
On a really late night as it enveloped in the dark
Sing a song about smoke and cigarettes and drink and whisky
To your lads, oh you don't even miss me
But that's not the story that I'm trying to tell
No, this is a love song that E.N.D.E.D well
Youngster romance not about a B.J
No, I can't even get a call that from you
Cause you right, I try to get you off my mind
But you name keeps coming up beyond my harms
It's a love song that I shoulda never ever wrote
It's a love song that I shoulda never ever spoke, no.
I wrote you this love song
Wrote you were loved but after that you hurt me it returns back to sender
Maybe should I send you flowers so I will have the power
To tell you how much you were a coward
I painted you pictures that I gifted you
They show you I was dumped and you, you were never cool.
Now, get stop with this tattoos permanents
Overmatter you, you that do, that I never go fine
Now we say it's done and you're on the run
But I'm the little girl having all the fun
It's a love song that I shoulda never ever wrote
It's a love song that I shoulda never ever spoke, no.

Echos

Lyrics : Hope - Kid Wise : Paroles
Hope
Lost in the sun airway
Facing bright colors
Remember your face
Lost in the sun airway
Searching for hope
In outer spaces
You got me once now I'm waiting
I'm waiting for you to give me a sign
To give me a light
Now I'm here pretending
That I'll do the best to keep you warm
To keep you calm
Over and over my body gets deeper
Over and over my spirit gets stronger
Lost in the sun airway
Waiting for a sky to keep me away
You got me once now I'm waiting
I'm waiting for you to give me a sign
To give me a light
Now I'm here pretending
That I'll do the best to keep you warm
To keep you calm
Over and over my body gets deeper
Over and over my spirit gets stronger
Gets deeper gets deeper
Gets stronger gets stronger
Gets deeper gets deeper
Gets stronger gets stronger
...
Over and over again
