Famous for being a surfer and a model for sportswear brand’s campaign, Lindsay Perry show us that with her first album L.O.V.E, she’s also a talented songwriter, guitarist, and singer.

It’s the eponym track L.O.V.E, that Lindsay Perry have selected as first single and opening of the album. Very good choice, because L.O.V.E appears to be one of the most memorable song of the album, with its rapped verses on a folk guitar background. Then at first listening, we as soon understand that we are listening something out of ordinary. But if we thought that Lindsay couldn’t surprise us anymore, we recognize that we were absolutely wrong after listening Dancin’ with the devil, a blues song in the pure tradition of B.B King. Then if the blues is omnipresent in the album, it’s not the only influence of Lindsay Perry.  Indeed, if Cheers reminds us of Scarlett Johansson  & Pete Yorn, Angus & Julia Stone and Cocoon, Lovesick Remady shows country influence, while Fabric and Don’t Leave are more in the Amy Winehouse's british blues style. At least, if Slow Creepin’ does an amazing splits Bob Marley - Britney Spears, it’s with $1.95 that we find again the modernity of L.O.V.E, although in a happier tonality.

But while Scarlett has her Pete Yorn, while Julia Stone has her Angus, and while Britney Spears Has an army of songwriters, Lindsay Perry, her, do it all on her own with her folk guitar. It even seemed that Get Back was recorded in a single live record if we trust Lindsay announcing “This song is called Get Back” at the beginning of the track. With its minimalist arrangements, although sublime on Dancing with the devil and $1.95, L.O.V.E is clearly not the most sophisticated album of the year, but it’s not what we are expecting of it. Sometime it worth to drop the sophistication and simply go to the beach, listening what Lindsay Perry wants to sing for us with her folk guitar beyond the sound of waves.

Then, we only can praise this first album and wish a lot of success in music to Lindsay Perry, because with such a great talent, it’d be a shame if she dropped performing music.
